Industries You’d Never Think Use a Fridge Trailer (But Totally Do!)

When people hear “fridge trailer,” they often picture catering vans at festivals, or pub kitchens bursting at the seams during Christmas. Fair enough, hospitality and events are some of our most regular customers. But what if we told you that some of our busiest bookings come from places you’d never expect?
From flowers to pharmaceuticals, racing cars to film sets, there’s a whole world out there relying on portable refrigeration and we’re right in the middle of it. So, here’s a rundown of industries across the UK you might not have realised use mobile fridge and freezer trailers, and exactly why they do.

1. Florists & Flower Growers
Let’s start with the petals. If there’s one industry that lives and dies by freshness, it’s floristry. Whether it’s a local shop in the Cotswolds or a large-scale wedding supplier near London, temperature matters.
Flowers, especially those destined for bridal bouquets or big events, wilt quickly without chilled storage. During warmer months (and around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter), we regularly supply refrigerated trailers to flower farms, wholesalers and florists to help them preserve blooms and manage stock overflow.
Not only does this keep the flowers fresher for longer, but it also means businesses can scale up during peak demand without investing in permanent infrastructure.
2. Pharmaceuticals & Medical Clinics
This is a big one, and it’s growing fast. With the rise of medicinal treatments like weight-loss injections (yes, we’re talking about Manjaro and similar), cold storage has become critical for clinics and pharmaceutical distributors.
Medicines, vaccines, and injectable treatments often need to be stored between 2°C and 8°C. That’s where we come in. We’ve delivered fridge trailers for pop-up clinics, private healthcare providers, and distribution centres who need reliable, secure mobile refrigeration while they scale up.
We even work with institutions like Cambridge University, providing modular cold rooms for bespoke medical needs.
3. Equestrian Events & Horse Therapy
If you’ve read our latest blog, you’ll already know about this one, but it’s still not obvious to most people! Equestrian events, particularly those in the British Eventing season, rely heavily on cold storage to cool horses’ legs post-performance.
After a hard session on the cross-country course, horses’ legs are cooled with ice to reduce inflammation and risk of injury. That’s why we supply freezer trailers, ice and cool boxes to venues across the UK, helping keep horses in top shape, from Cornbury Horse Trials to Aston Le Walls.
4. Film & TV Studios
Lights, camera... refrigeration?
Surprisingly, we’re often behind the scenes (literally) at major film and television productions. From storing on-set catering and drinks to preserving makeup products, costume items, or even fake blood and special effects materials, mobile fridge trailers keep everything cool while shooting in remote or temporary locations.
Most recently, we delivered a number of fridge and freezer trailers to a film studio in London for a 6-month hire, proving just how useful our service is for long-term commercial projects.
5. Scientific Research Labs
We’ve worked with universities and research institutions who needed mobile refrigeration while undergoing lab refurbishments or waiting for fixed units to be installed.
It’s a niche use, but an important one. Sensitive materials, biological samples and chemical compounds often require strict temperature controls, and our trailers offer the perfect short-term solution. Secure, monitored and easy to position, they can be placed exactly where needed with minimal disruption.
6. Logistics & Warehousing
Not all warehouse spaces are climate controlled and that’s where our trailers come in.
Whether it’s storing chilled items awaiting transport, providing overflow refrigeration during busy periods, or helping a site remain operational during unit failures, our fridge trailers act as a stopgap that keeps logistics running smoothly.
We’re even supporting Amazon warehouse operations this winter, offering freezer storage for six weeks to handle a seasonal peak.
7. Agricultural & Farm Enterprises
Let’s not forget where we started, on a working farm with a few turkeys and no fridge space in sight.
Farmers use refrigerated trailers for a wide range of reasons, from storing meat during processing, to chilling dairy, holding fresh eggs, or even preserving fruit and veg during harvest season. Mobile units offer flexibility without the cost or commitment of building permanent infrastructure.
Plus, as farms diversify into events and direct-to-consumer sales, mobile refrigeration gives them a competitive edge.
